In support of high school and college readiness, VNEF aspires to increase preparedness and access to students by providing additional resources to both students and parents as they pursue higher education possibilities. As part of this initiative, VNEF is happy to provide some of the funding needed by Leander ISD for the purchase of Naviance, the college and career readiness platform. In 2015, VNEF fulfilled the $50,000 pledge to Leander ISD to support this essential program.

Below are several of our successful high school and college readiness programs:

College JumpStart

College JumpStart

VNEF sponsored College JumpStart in 2015, a new camp for rising seniors at Vandegrift High School to guide them on preparing and completing the college application process, from applications, essays and resumes, to financial aid and scholarships. Each four-day summer camp offered two-hour sessions. Specifically, the camp covered researching colleges and creating a college list, determining deadlines, drafting a resume, previewing and drafting applications, reviewing all application and essay requirements, preparing essays, requesting letters of recommendation and etiquette, ordering transcripts, evaluating rank/non-rank options, and financial aid and how to apply.

Naviance

Naviance

Naviance is an interactive web-based student planning system for college and career readiness. It equips families with a multitude of resources for the development and attainment of individualized short and long-term educational goals by providing college and career information, assessing interests and abilities, integrating GPA and rank as well as test scores and producing a work-in-progress four year plan. The online system centralizes and organizes college admission requirements and application process including references, transcripts, financial aid and scholarship information.

Naviance is used by more than 8,500 schools and districts including neighboring districts, Lake Travis, Austin and Eanes. Districts that have implemented Naviance have had considerable cost-savings through the increased efficiencies in school staff and communications.
